What is Hypno-Human Design?

Hypno-Human Design is simply my amalgam of Hypnotherapy and Human Design.

Human Design is an esoteric system that combines elements of Astrology, I-Ching, Kabbalah, the Chakra System and Neutrino physics.  Your "Design" is based on your birth data, including precise birth time and your Human Design chart details how you were designed to meet life and make a correct decision, based on your unique inner GPS, so you can find your deep inner YES, without your mind highjacking your aligned decision process.  According to Human Design, your mind is amazing for a great number of things, like communicating your perspective and helping others, just not for leading and guiding your own life.

Using Hypnotherapy and Human Design (typically separately, but sometimes together when arranged in a package of sessions), my intention is to simply support your efforts and point you towards yourself (who you TRULY are)... assisting you with getting out of your own way, and through any turbulence, you may be experiencing, so you may travel much lighter through life, and better enjoy your journey.

Helping you trust yourself again, is a big part of it... knowing where to look inside to know what is correct and capital T TRUE for you, so you can make the right choice, for yourself, when faced with difficult decisions, which is particularly helpful in our rapidly changing world!

Aside from my degree, certifications, and attunements mentioned above, I am well versed in a wide variety of different modalities and practices and utilize my ever-evolving knowledge, training, and toolbox, to the best of my ability, to assist you in moving through various challenges and difficulties. It is my honor and privilege to help you excavate and tap into your own bounty of rich inner resources.  You may be surprised and delighted by what you discover, working with me.  In our time together, whether you elect to experience Hypnosis or learn more about your Human Design, you can expect me to be fully attentive and present to what is showing up for you.  As is the case with any type of therapy, this is a two-way effort and I cannot be more invested in your desired outcome than you are, but I am dedicated to helping you discover your unique strengths/potential (where you are strong and sovereign) and your blindspots, where you are vulnerable to the outside conditioning and influence of others.  It is my honor and privilege to help you discover the unique being you were born to be, and more quickly recognize when you are walking a path that is not your own. I do this by translating your Human Design birth chart (your life’s unique operator’s manual) into actionable intel, so you may get out of your own way and learn how to operate correctly as your unique self. I offer hypnotherapy, as well, to assist my clients further in making the changes they seek to live a more fulfilling life.

A NON-EXAUSTIVE LISTING OF ISSUES I WORK WITH:

Picture
Hypnosis can also often help with issues involving:
Enhanced focus, resolving / letting go of old stories, study habits and test-taking abilities, athletic and/or strategic performance, public speaking discomfort, work performance, assertiveness, making more aligned decisions, tapping into higher potential, releasing tension, writer's block and imagination, food-related issues and healthy habits, preparing for medical or dental procedures, enhanced healing post-procedure, panic attacks, worrying and anxiety, loneliness, self-worth issues, feeling lost, emotional clearing and energetic cord removal, personal growth, recurring headaches, arthritis, time management, retail therapy, and so much more... truly the only limits are the imagination.
IMPORTANT: Please note that, although hypnotherapy can be highly effective in helping to alleviate physical issues associated with various illnesses, as a hypnotherapist, I do not diagnose, prescribe, or treat any illness and for matters such as those, I will request and require your physician's written permission to support the therapies and procedures they are administering. With their permission, though, the work we do together, in tandem with your physician, can help to maximize the potential for enhanced benefits and outcomes, but I make no guarantees or promises towards that aim.

SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What Is The Difference Between Hypnosis And Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis a tool and Hypnotherapy is a skill. It’s like the difference between a typewriter and an author. Hypnotherapists employ their skill in using the tool of hypnosis, to place their client in a state of hyper learning, allowing the client to work more closely with their subconscious mind to revivify old memories, recognize and correct old misconceptions and establish new choices, behaviors, capacities, and possibilities. The hypnotherapist is not doing the work. The hypnotherapist simply facilitates helping the client in accessing their subconscious, where they, the client, can make the changes they seek. However, like all tools, to work effectively, they require an expert craftsman to skillfully and properly use it. Hypnotherapy is akin to a deeper, more transformative and therapeutic level of guided meditation.
HYPNOSIS:
"A state of intensified attention and receptiveness, and an increased responsiveness to an idea or to a set of ideas."
-Milton Erickson

What Is And Is Not Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is not magic, religious, or metaphysical, nor is it a miracle cure or a magic wand that can be waved to “fix you”… for one, it would be a difficult challenge to accept you as “broken”, regardless, but as incredibly effective as it may very often be for a great number of people, it is not always successful. Everyone’s results with hypnotherapy is unique and as such, responses vary in speed and depth. However, in my own experience, it is one of the most gentle and effective, drug-free ways to make profoundly beneficial change in one’s life.  Our conscious mind is only the tip of the iceberg of our consciousness and what we THINK it means to be US and our conscious efforts alone are limited in changing our capacity for growth and personal evolution.  Said perfectly by another, “A conscious solution to an unconscious problem is doomed to fail.”  Even if your conscious mind believes the changes you seek are positive and worthwhile, your subconscious seeks to maintain the integrity of its current programming, by rejecting new ideas and suggestions, that run counter to it.  This is exactly why hypnotherapy can be so powerfully effective in helping the subconscious to accept more useful ideas and allow us to let go any limiting beliefs. The conscious mind can often hinder its success, so having the ability to utilize the subconscious mind as an ally and assisting our conscious efforts, rather than being an obstacle, is tremendously powerful.
HYPNOSIS:

"Hypnosis is not sleep. Whatever sleep is, hypnosis is not. In an operational sense, hypnosis is a response to a signal from another or to an inner signal, which activates a capacity for a shift of awareness in the subject and permits a more intensive concentration upon a designated goal direction... to put succinctly, hypnosis is an altered state of attention which approaches peak concentration capacity."
-Herbert Spiegel

In Hypnosis, Will I Lose Control Of Myself Or Made To Do Something I Don’t Want To Do?

No, not at all.  You will actually be hyper-aware of what’s going on.  Your conscious mind will not be asleep, but your nervous system will be placed in a deep state of relaxation.  This affords you greater communication, rapport and connection to your subconscious, where your memories and learned behaviors are recorded and stored.  As one of my mentors, Randall Churchill has said, “Our problems today, were solutions to our earlier problems.”  Our subconscious mind is not out to get us. It is more so like a dutiful soldier that is carrying out orders, we programmed it to fulfill at earlier times, due to different circumstances, and something back then hit SAVE.  To change, we need to reeducate our loyal subconscious and replace its out-of-date orders with new ones to carry out.  Having the ability to utilize the subconscious mind as an ally, rather than an obstacle, is tremendously powerful in making lasting change to unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors, stored in the subconscious mind. But to be clear, not only can you not be hypnotized against your will and agreement, but even in hypnosis, any suggestion that is not correct for you or aligned, or doesn’t ring true for you can and will be rejected by your mind.

Can I Be Trapped In A Hypnotic State Or Trance?

No. Much in the same way you eventually awaken from a nap, without someone waking you from a nap. And if for any reason you need to be awoken while you in hypnosis, then you will awaken fully alert.  To clarify, please note, I am only using a nap as an example. Again, your conscious mind will not be asleep. Stage Hypnosis, for which most people get their idea of what hypnosis is, is nothing more than an entertaining performance. The people you see on stage, who are complying with requests to bark like a dog or similarly embarrassing directions, are willing to do that for the fun of it. Many of them are aspiring actors or following along, because they don’t want the stage hypnotist to feel bad or look stupid. Not all people who volunteer to take part in those performances are accepted and certainly not until they have successfully made it beyond an extensive interview process, that guarantees that will not let the stage hypnotist down. Film, television, and novels also occasionally include fictional representations of hypnosis, where things occur that do not actually happen in true, real-life hypnosis.
HYPNOSIS:

"It is a somewhat altered state of consciousness and altered awareness, although the conscious mind is still present. We might compare it to a teeter-totter. In the waking state the conscious mind is at the high end of the teeter-totter and the subconscious mind at the low end. Under hypnosis they reverse and the subconscious is at the high end and the conscious part at the low end, but it is still present. Thoughts rise from the inner mind into consciousness."

Is All Hypnotherapy Good Hypnotherapy?

Sadly, no.  In the wrong hands, hypnotherapy can be detrimental or a waste of time (and money), if the hypnotherapist is poorly trained, irresponsible, or careless. For one, the Hypnotherapist should be certified by a recognized and respected school, with a comprehensive curriculum. If the Hypnotherapist is additionally board-certified, there are even more stringent guidelines the Hypnotherapist must work within to maintain their credibility and recognized status.  One key factor, is the Hypnotherapist must never assume, they know why someone is experiencing a particular issue or even suspect that they know, but rather only be guided and informed by the client’s own subconscious, which includes requesting permission from the client's subconscious whether it is safe and appropriate to explore particular memories and emotions. Even if the client suspects something to be true, the process must be approached with an open mind, without built-in biases and assumptions of what will be found.  Why?  Because the subconscious speaks in metaphors and sometimes the imagery the subconscious borrows to convey its communication, comes from areas other than memory, a conglomeration of different memories, or even augmented by influential people around them at the time, or possibly even colored by what was seen on TV or in movies, so its very important that the Hypnotherapist be careful to avoid any leading questions or convey directly or indirectly their own expectations, of what will be found, verbally or non-verbally. Both the therapist and the client must willing to remain fully objective in the process, and not only should the Hypnotherapist be exceedingly respectful and skillful when memories and emotions are involved, but be exceedingly careful in their speech so that they do not attribute their own meaning or convey any expectations.  I was certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist by one of the oldest, most respected, leading pioneering schools in the world, the Hypnotherapy Training Institute (HTI), which was founded in 1978, and on top of that, I am a board-certified Clinical Hypnotherapist through the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (founded in 1973) and held to adhere to their additional strict requirements, principles of practice, and code of ethics. I encourage you to be very selective when choosing the highest quality hypnotherapy available to you. Further, it’s important to choose someone you feel comfortable with. Everyone is not for everyone, even if they are a gifted and conscientious Hypnotherapist, myself included, so it's important that we get a sense of each other, prior to working together, to make sure we are the right fit. After all, the more open a client is to relaxing and going into hypnosis, the more successful they usually are, however even when somebody and their presenting issue are both suitable for hypnotherapy, and there is a great rapport between the skilled, properly trained hypnotherapist and the client, we cannot be 100% certain of success.

How Long Does Hypnotherapy Take To Work or See Results?

Well, to reiterate, everyone’s results with hypnotherapy is unique and as such, responses vary in speed and depth. However, Hypnotherapy is often referred to as “brief therapy”, because it typically only takes a handful of sessions to have a profound impact on the desired outcome, unlike talk therapy.  And unlike talk therapy, it’s not important or even necessarily helpful for the Hypnotherapist to know the whole story of what’s going on. The number of sessions recommended varies according to the individual and particular issue. Some may only require 4-6 sessions to experience a profound shift. With my experience, I am committed to beginning with a few sessions to affect the changes that you would like to see.  The first session we have though, will most likely not include hypnosis, but rather be an extensive interview, preparing me to better align and calibrate the hypnotherapy to you for maximum effectiveness.

People Who Are Not Suitable For Hypnotherapy

Although, I firmly believe that hypnotherapy can be hugely beneficial for most people, it is not suitable for absolutely everyone. There are some people that should not be induced into hypnosis.  Anybody who is prone or has a history of epilepsy, epileptic events or “seizures" falls into this category.  Due to there being a change of brain activity in hypnosis, despite it being a natural state, there is the potential to trigger a convulsion in some who are prone or have a history of epilepsy, epilectic events or “seizures”, and as such, hypnotherapy is deemed unsuitable for those people. Hypnotherapy is also unsuitable for those who have been diagnosed with mental illness, as there is nothing hypnotherapy can offer to help alleviate mental illness. Unlike what may better be described as anxiety, which can benefit from both psychotherapy and/or hypnotherapy, psychosis is not treated by even psychotherapy alone.

What Can I Expect In Our Private Phone Or Zoom Sessions Together

We do some necessary paperwork, and then, at a pre-arranged time, I telephone you or we jump on a Zoom, and take time to get to know each other a little, and talk about the issue(s) at hand. This is typically our first session which lasts 90 minutes. In the following session, when ready, after eliminating any external distractions (phone, pets are fed and walked, children are attended to, there are no spotty wifi issues, and you have otherwise eeked out some “me time”), after setting up your computer, laptop, or smart phone in a manner so I can supervise you during the process, and we can hear and see each other well, and have a plan for addressing when/if we get interrupted or disconnected from our technology, and after getting as comfortable as you would like to be, either seated in a comfy chair, reclining on a sofa, or in bed with a pillow, we will begin the process of entering a pleasant state deep relaxation and hypnosis, which I am well trained to do using my voice. Once you have reached the depth of hypnosis that you feel comfortable with, we begin the work. From there, I will give you potent and aligned suggestions to help you accomplish the changes you are seeking, and your powerful subconscious mind takes in the suggestions that will be useful to you and easily and effortlessly discards what does not resonate. When the session is nearing its conclusion, I invite your subconscious to accept and use those suggestions that will be useful to you and let go of those that are not beneficial or aligned. I then proceed to bring you gently and brightly out of hypnosis.  Afterwards, many report feeling deeply rested and refreshed, as if you've had a much needed nap of the perfect length. Many people also report sleeping better the nights following sessions, perhaps more so than they have done so in years. A lot of people enjoy the additional benefit and comfort in having these hypnotherapy sessions conducted remotely, in their own home. However, whether the session takes place in person or held remotely, you are always aware of what is being said and how the session is progressing. To reiterate, because it bears repeating, hypnosis is not a loss of awareness, it is a fine-tuning of your awareness and we are often communicating to each other, either verbally or through established finger signals, during the session.

Logistics-wise, it’s best to use ear buds with a microphone or similar head set, to both help you more thoroughly relax (without a phone in your hand) and to make it easier for me to hear you, when you speak softly. You may also enjoy adding to your comfort, by having a light blanket, as your body temperature may change a little, while in hypnosis.
